After Your O-1 is Approved

  1. file form ds-160

Each applicant—including children—must submit a Form DS-160 detailing personal information and the reason for the visit. When you sign the DS-160 electronically, you are certifying that all the information contained in it is true and correct. Be sure to double-check that all answers are accurate and that each question is answered completely. Please write down or print your Application ID when you start filling out the form. You will need it to retrieve your application.

  2. Pay the O-1 visa fee

Along with the basic I-129 filing fee, O-1 visa applicants must also pay the DS-160 filing fee of $190.

  3. schedule an interview with the us embassy or consulate

Individuals applying for an O-1 from outside the United States must complete an interview at the US Embassy or Consulate with a consular official. Interviews can have long wait times, so schedule your appointment as soon as possible. You can view current non-immigrant interview wait times on the Department of State website.

  4. gather necessary o-1 visa documents

You will need to bring the following documents to your O-1 visa interview.

    1. DS-160 confirmation page

    2. Interview appointment letter

    3. A passport valid for at least 6 months after the period you intent to stay in the US

    4. A photograph of yourself that accords with DOS guidelines
